I see links to GoutPal.com from all over the world.
Usually, they are English sites, but I have noticed a few in other languages, including Dutch, French, Japanese and Chinese.
I’m a bit ashamed that I can’t respond to these (usually forums), but I only understand English.
It set me thinking about a couple of ideas.
- Where do GoutPal.com visitors come from?
- What is the word for gout in other languages?
Number 1 is fairly easy – I can look at my website log report, or Google analytics. Analytics is easier to follow, so I can see:

I’ll need to do a bit of research here, to find a table of languages for some of these, though I can guess at many.
The next task is to see what the word for gout is in each language.
Why?
Just because it seems like something interesting (but sad) to do!
So far I’ve got:
| Abbrev. | Language | Word for Gout |
|---|---|---|
| es | Spanish | gota |
| fr | French | goutte, globe de l’oeil |
Translations from InterTran
Curiously, if I use this service to translate from English to English, I get “physical Pain, taste”, so I’m not expecting too much from the results. (can try other translation services)
